Thai defender Pansa Hemviboon once again became the center of attention in a crucial match for Thailand at the ASEAN Cup after scoring an own goal in the second leg of the semi-final against Singapore on the evening of August 18.

In the 65th minute, from a Singapore corner kick, the Thai defense failed to clear the ball decisively, causing chaos in the penalty area. Harhys Stewart quickly seized the opportunity to shoot from a tight angle. The shot did not go straight into the net but hit Pansa Hemviboon's foot, deflected, and caught the Thai goalkeeper off guard.

The goal was recorded as an own goal by Pansa, helping Singapore take a 2-1 lead and making the match at Rajamangala tense. Thailand had previously won 3-1 in the first leg, but their advantage was significantly reduced after this incident.

Notably, this is not the first time Pansa has been the main figure in an own goal at the ASEAN Cup. In the second leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final, also at Rajamangala Stadium, this defender had previously put the ball into his own net after a shot by Phạm Tuấn Hải.

At that time, the goal helped Vietnam equalize 2-2 against Thailand. Nguyễn Hải Long later scored in stoppage time, helping the Vietnamese team win 3-2 and clinch the title with a 5-3 aggregate score.
